Old Man House Park |
||
|
The state of Washington is considering turning over various state parks to local government authorities. Among them is Old Man House Park, located at the foot of Division Street in Suquamish. The Suquamish Tribe and the state have been in conversation about the Tribe acquiring the park, which has deep historic and cultural significance to the Tribe. How would the park be managed? What would change and what would stay the same if the Tribe acquires the park? The Tribal Council has already made clear that the park would remain open to all people and that there would be no fireworks or alcohol allowed. But what of other issues? The Suquamish Tribe has asked Suquamish Olalla Neighbors to partner in engaging the broader community in developing a management plan. To do that, we need to know what you think. How do you use the park and what policies and practices would make it work best for all who use it now and may use it years into the future? Please
complete our
survey to help us better understand how you use
Old Man Park, what it means to you, and how you think it should be
managed. Type your answers into the form on the screen, then print the
form and mail it to either: And please consider attending an Old Man House Park community workshop or meeting this Fall. On September 18th, there will be a Community Workshop on the draft outline & goals for the park. On November 13th, there will be a Community Meeting on draft management plan for the park. Both meetings will start at 7:00 pm and will be held at the Suquamish Tribal Center on Sandy Hook Road. For
