The
1700 year old Chi-whi-tsen Village Site of the Lower
Elwha Klallam Tribe near Port Angeles WA is being destroyed
by a Federal Highway Administration and WA State Departmet of
Transportation construction project.

As of December 8, 2004, there have been 288 full human remains,
700 isolates, six longhouses, and over 10,000 artifacts
forcefully excavated by a coerced repatriation project so that a
Graving Dock to build Hood Canal Bridge replacement parts can be
made. All this continues on a permit that was issued on
the basis of a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI).
